Learn to make a Claw Foot Leg or Queen Ann style feet for your projects.

 

The cabriole design is often associated with bun or the "ball and claw" foot design. In England, this design was characteristic of Queen Anne and Chippendale furniture. In France, the cabriole leg is associated with the Louis XV period of furniture design.

 

The following are specific woodworking technologies presented.

  • Interpret Pattern development
  • Learn Types of feet associated with leg styles
  • Fabricate a pattern layout for carving a ball and claw on a cabriole leg
  • Understand Use various carving tools to produce claw and ball foot on leg
  • Accomplish the art of Queen Anna style legs

 

Class for AGES 18 and UP or School's Permission

Class # SPI-656

A certificate is awarded upon class completion

Prerequisites:

   Master Woodworking Program Courses or with consent of the instructor

   NO materials or tools needed.

 

The class takes sixteen hours in eight hour blocks of time over a two-day period.  Days and times may be altered depending on the circumstances.

 

FEES:

Tuition $925.00 + Laboratory $390.00 + Materials (solid oak) $150.00 = $1,465.00 and you keep the project.
