Building a Roll Top Desk Base with Raised Panels and File Drawers

 

A Must Have Item for the Home Office and You Built It! The ultimate learning experience with raised panels, drawer and lumber edgebanding experiences. Now you will be applying your previously learned lab skills to every type of woodworking equipment in our lab. Yet a trainer will be there to help you with any questions over techniques that may arise.

 

The following are specific woodworking technologies presented.

  • Adapting working drawings
  • Learning about carcass construction techniques
  • Producing raised panels for sides and back
  • Manufacturing desk drawers with routers and ©Incra jig and/or ©Jointmatic devices
  • Edgebanding with solid wood desk top
  • Attaching a desk top correctly allowing for expansion and contraction
  • Machining wooden drawer slides
  • Mastering drawer slide attachment
  • Acquiring the knack to adjust drawers for proper fit

 

Class for AGES 14 and UP or with consent of the instructor

Class # SPI-610

A certificate is awarded upon class completion

Prerequisites SPI-600, 601, 603, 607 or with consent of the instructor. NO materials or tools needed.

 

The class takes ninety-two hours in eight hour blocks of time over a twelve-day period. The days may occur over a two week to three month period. Hours may be altered depending on the circumstances.

 

FEES:
Tuition $1,995.00 + Laboratory $400.00 + Materials (solid oak) $172.00 = $2,567 and you keep the project.
